Strategy and priorities
The strategy of the Board of Directors of the Swedish Research Council for Sport Science is to clearly communicate the organisation’s priorities and objectives. Projects involving sporting excellence and research into children’s and young people’s sport are equally prioritised if they are of the same quality.
The Board of the Swedish Research Council for Sport Science has requested the Scientific Review Panel to identify and present projects within the prioritised areas and to give them precedence.
The application’s relevance to sport is assessed, and if the application does not meet requirements, the application proceeds no further.
The Board of the Swedish Research Council for Sport Science clarifies some definitions below:
- Children and young people refers to people up to the age of 20. The purpose of the research should focus on childrens and young peoples sport in their free time and at school.
- Research into sporting excellence refers to projects focusing on sporting excellence, which promote individuals and teams participating in top-class sport. The aim of the research should be to promote the international competitiveness of Swedish sport at senior level. In this context, an elite sports programme is demanding, specialised and highly organised, with clear performance and results targets.
