You should not create a new account if you already have an account. If you have a new e-mail address, please contact us and we will update it.

• If you have forgotten the password, click on the link “Forgotten password?”
• In order to be able to sign the application electronically with BankID you have to register your personal identity number. The personal identity number is only used to enable the signature of the application and will not be used for any other purposes.

You, as the main applicant, and thus project manager, create an account and fill out your own contact details:

• Provide first name, last name, and your email address. You are the main applicant.
• An e-mail containing a password will be sent to the e-mail address provided.
• When you log in to the system using your new password, click on “Edit personal information” and enter your personal information and ORCID ID.
• It is important that the personal information is registered and updated, as it is linked to your application.
• Your personal identity number (personnummer) must be registered under “Personal data” to enable signature with BankID for the submissin of the application. The personal identity number will not be used for any other purposes.
• If you are unable to obtain a Swedish personal identity number and BankID, please contact us.

Click on “Create new application” and select the type of application from the drop-down menu. Your application will automatically receive a unique ID number consisting of a letter, the relevant year, and a serial number.

Here are the codes for the different types of applications:

P – Project grant

D – Postdoc salary funding, year 1

O – Grant for organisations, associations and networking

F – Continuation grant for previously granted postdoctoral grants

To complete your application, click on the ID number first and then click “Edit”. This will open all the tabs that need to be filled in.

The personal data you enter into the application system are stored and processed in this system to administer applications. The applications are administered by CIF’s administrators and will also be handed out to external reviewers in the Scientific Review Panel and the Board of the Swedish Research Council for Sport Science.

By electronically registering the application, the user agrees that the data submitted is processed by CIF. This approval is a prerequisite for applying for a research grant at CIF. Provisions for right of registry and correction of incorrect or misleading data are contained in the General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679).

Personal data is entered into the digital system by the applicant itself and can only be corrected and adjusted by the applicant. The only personal information that CIF can correct is the e-mail address.

Your personal identity number (personnummer) must be registered under “Personal data” in order for confirmation with BankID to be made. It will not be used for any other purpose.

There is no “save” function as the system saves entered information automatically.

It is important not to use your computer’s backspace. Use only the buttons at the top of the screen to move backwards and forwards in the system.

The system is designed to be used online. It is a web-based system and requires  the user to be logged in. Information entered may be lost if the internet connection is disrupted.

The text input fields allow for input of a limited number of characters. The character counter beneath each text field shows the total number of characters, including spaces, available for input.

If you exceed the character limit, this will be displayed in the character counter under each text field. However, the system will not alert you until you attempt to submit the application. At that point, an error message will appear with information on which part of the application that is too long or if something is missing. It is important to keep track of the number of characters you have used to avoid last-minute corrections.

Please note that different programs, systems and browsers calculate the number of characters differently. If you first write your text in a program like Word and then paste it into the system’s text fields, the number of characters may differ. However, t is the system’s character limit that applies.

Additionally, be aware that formatting (such as, bold, italics, and superscript) will be lost when text is pasted. 

Once your application is complete, return to the first page and select the application you wish to submit. Click on “Submit.”  You will then receive an e-mail confirming the registration of the application.

You can make changes to your application at any time until the system closes. If you need to make adjustments, click “Unsubmit,” make the necessary changes, and then submit it again.

The application must be electronically signed using BankID before the application system closes.

When signing the application digitally, the main applicant confirms that the host institution has approved its commitment to support the current research and to provide employment, facilities and equipment. The application should also include the name, title and e-mail address of the head of the department (or equivalent). The head of the department should not sign the application.

If you cannot obtain a BankID, please contact the CIF office by September 1 at the latest.
