Guidelines for using AI tools
CIF has established guidelines regarding the use of AI tools in research funding applications and their assessments.
Use of AI in applications
CIF does not prohibit applicants from using generative AI or other digital tools while preparing their applications. Currently, there is no requirement to disclose whether AI has been utilised.
However, as an applicant, you must:
- ensure the accuracy of your application content, including the project plan, and confirm that you can conduct the research as described. You will certify this when submitting your application,
- Follow good research practice when writing the application. This means that plagiarism, falsification, or fabrication of content is not permitted.
AI in the assessment of applications
Generative AI tools are not allowed in the scientific evaluation of applications. The assessment will be conducted by peer reviewers appointed by the CIF Board of Directors.
Digital AI tools can be used to improve the language in written assessments of applications, provided that it does not involve sharing factual content or personal data about the applicant.
